The other day I came across a photo of this watermelon
“cake” and I had to give it a try! With this beautiful warm weather I’ve been
craving fresh watermelon and this looked devine! I love it when you come across
a dessert that is so simple and easy to make yet it tastes so delicious! Owen
had a great time decorating this watermelon cake with berries, and even more
so, licking the bowl clean of whipping cream! :)
What you will need
1 watermelon
1 cup of Whipping cream 35%
note*you can find this beside the regular cream in the
grocery store and you may need more or less crème depending on the size of your
watermelon.
Sugar
Berries of your choice
Slivered almonds: optional
Cut off the ends of the watermelon and then cut out the
center. You should have now what looks like a cake.
Set on a plate. Next, pour cream into a bowl and sprinkle with sugar I think I used a little less than a tablespoon but you can use as desired. Then, use your electric beaters to beat the med- high until the crème forms peeks. Wipe any juice around the plate that has leaked from the watermelon then top with the whipping cream. Add berries and/or sliced almonds, and you’re done! A simple, fresh, summer treat- Enjoy! :)
